I recently bought a blender and I have been going through a crazy awesome smoothie phase. I’ve been working out more in the mornings and I think a smoothie is the perfect healthy post-workout drink to get my protein in and nourish my body after a run or weights session. After much experimenting, this is the smoothie recipe I have landed on as my favorite for the mornings! Healthy Morning Sunshine Smoothie Recipe:
Ingredients (makes about 2 servings):
- 1 banana
- 1 cup of frozen mixed fruit (I like to use the Bird’s Eye mixed fruit because you get some pineapple and peaches with strawberries, too!)
- A couple ice cubes (the thicker you want your smoothie, the more you use)
- 1 cup of almond mild or low fat milk
- 1/4 cup of water (add more water for a less thick smoothie)
- A scoop of protein powder (I have found vanilla or strawberry protein powder work best for this recipe)
- 1/2 cup Greek non-fat yogurt
Directions:
- Start with a couple ice cubes in the bottom of your blender
- Throw in your frozen fruit and banana (cut in half)
- Add in the Greek yogurt and then, protein powder
- Add almond milk or low fat milk
- Add water and then blend away!
- Add ice or water as need be to make desired texture
