Nothing says “Merry Christmas” better than serving your party guests (or yourself) some fruity, boozy concoctions. This Christmas, switch up the old eggnog and vodka recipe for something a little more exciting. I’m sure your guests will be falling all over you trying to get the recipe.
Double Cider Bourbon Punch
This punch is a crowd pleaser, and easy to whip up for any last minute holiday party you might be having. Just combine 4 cups of apple cider, 36 ounces of hard apple cider (we like angry orchard), 24 ounces of ginger beer, 2 cups seltzer, 3 cups bourbon, and juice from 1 lemon in a large punch bowl. Garnish by floating thin apple slices on top of the beverage, and serve over cinnamon sticks and ice!
Cashew Nut Nog
This is a more complex version of your classic eggnog. The recipe includes egg, but can be easily made without it for a more vegan friendly beverage. To make this delicious ‘Nog combine cashews, hazelnuts, and 4 cups hot water in a blender or a large bowl. Tie up orange zest, cinnamon, star anise, and cloves in a layer of cheesecloth and lightly crush spices with a wooden spoon to release oils, then add to your nut mixture, and let it sit overnight. The next day, throw out the spice bundle and blend the nut mixture for 2 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a layer of cheesecloth into a large pitcher, squeezing out as much liquid as possible. Whisk coconut milk, agave, and vanilla into nut milk. Cover and chill until cold, at least 3 hours. Just before serving, beat egg whites in a medium bowl to soft peaks; beat in powdered sugar, cornstarch, and cream of tartar. Combine rum and nut milk mixture in a punch bowl. Top with meringue and sprinkle with nutmeg. For more information on this recipe, visit this site.
Hot Peppermint Patty
This grown up hot cocoa is perfect for a cozy date night when the weather outside is frightful. Just whisk 2 cups of whole milk, 3 ounces of bittersweet chocolate, 2 tablespoons of chocolate liqueur, a drop of peppermint extract, and some whiskey over medium heat. Serve in your favorite festive mug and top with whatever suits your fancy!
Hot Buttered Rum-
This rich, warm, and buttery drink is sure to satisfy, and can be made in single serving amounts. All you have to do is muddle 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, and 1 pat of butter at the bottom of a glass, then pour 2 ounces of dark rum and 2-3 ounces of hot water over top and stir! That’s all it takes to serve up this one serving treat, and you can even stir in some extra butter to taste.
Hot Gin Punch-
Sure to warm up your guests, this hot combination of gin and wine is simple to make and delicious to drink! Combine 3 teacups of Gin (the recipe recommends Hendricks), 3 teacups Madeira wine, 3 cloves, a pinch of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 6 large lemon twists, 1 sliced orange, 3 chunks of pineapple, 4 spoons of honey, some lemon juice and a small amount of water into a pot and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes. Serve hot in teacups, and enjoy!
