Warm weather is finally on its way in time for the first weekend of May! And, we predict an awesome time at First Fridays in the Crossroads. We may be diehard First Friday goers to begin with, but the promise of summer heat makes us even more excited to check out local artists’ work. We recommend one in particular you’ve got to check out this Friday. We invite you on the journey of A Storied Brush—a glimpse of one artist’s view of classical literary works and genres. Please join us at REACTOR Design Studio for May First Fridays, featuring art by Ian Lambert, Kansas City Creative.

Kansas City creative Ian Lambert is an experienced artist, designer and illustrator with 15 years of experience. With an early interest in art and design, Ian received his degree in architecture from Kansas State University. His creative career quickly accelerated when he joined Triple-I to lead its digital strategy and user experience design. As Triple-I’s director of art and digital design, Ian blends creativity and technology to create and deliver digital art for Triple-I clients and associates.
Ian carries his professional experience into his personal career and lifestyle as a Kansas City artist.  He applies a holistic approach to his personal and professional creations, inspiring him to write and illustrate, craft digital and traditional mixed media pieces and explore the gift to create.
In his own words:
“After browsing classical literary collections on bookstore shelves, I was intrigued by the boundless illustrations of characters and figures in the books. While each illustration includes a slight variation in design, the truth of the character remains consistent – strengthening the words and bringing the story to life. I was inspired to launch my own graphic series of these stories and the characters who comprised them– it’s art reimagining literature. At the conclusion of my final stroke, I understood that these characters were never to be fully realized as illustrations; rather, they can only be imagined by the artist, brought to interpreted life with each stroke of the brush.”
Here’s what you need to know to get down there and check ’em out:
