Alright, so Spring may seem like lightyears away given that the entire country is in the middle of snowstorms, snow-shoveling, and icy roads, however season of new life will be here before we know it. With a new season comes new trends, and well, those I am excited about along with the weather. Here are a few for Spring 2014 Beauty Trends for you to try out.
Neon Red Lipstick
Look out for bright lip colors this Spring; whether it’s red or pink, you’ll be seeing a LOT of the high-voltage lip color all over the place. Red’s my favorite, but pinks will flatter all skin tones as well. Works best with little or light eye makeup, so that the look isn’t too overdone.
Name brand: MAC Neon Orange
Drugstore: Maybelline Color Sensational in Neon Red
As effortless as the ‘natural look’ should be, sometimes it takes a little work, but highlighters and luminizers do the trick. Both give your skin a natural balmy glow that will make you look a little more vibrant and awake! Glowy products are especially needed during the home stretch before summer, when our skin feels dryer than ever. Sweep a highlighter right above your cheekbones and blush to add some light and glow to your face. Rub in to make it look more natural.
Namebrand: watt’s up by Benefit
And of course, if you can’t bare feeling like a Pale Nelly, self-tanners are there to help. I love Loreal Sublime Bronze; it gradually builds and gives a subtle color without making ya orange. Something to tide ya over until Summer.
Until recently the thought of slathering oil all over our faces would have screamed “Pore Suicide,” but turns out oils can actually help acne, are good for skin, and yes, also for that “glow” I spoke of. Without looking greasy, dabbing on oil after your makeup is complete will have your skin thanking you.
Namebrand: Nyakio Hydrating Face Oil with kola nut
Drugstore: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Skin Therapy Oil (face)
For a dramatic look smudging a matte or sparkly black shadow under the eyes and up around the corner works for a smoky look. For daytime and more Springy look, use a thick brown pencil in the same way and dab underneath with your fingertips. Only recommending drug store products here, because I don’t think namebrand is really necessary for this look, but if already you’ve got it, go for it!
Drugstore: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils
Glitter and Metallics
You’ll be seeing a lot of the over the top metallics this Spring, and I say embrace it. Using silver and gold on your eyelids makes for a dramatic girls night out look.
Name brand: Stila MagnificentMetal Foil Finish Eye Shadow
Drugstore: L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow
Braids on Braids on Braids
For a quick change in your look, adding even a small braid to a straight or curly style will add some texture. I also love the french braid fish tail, because it keeps your hair out of your face but is still feminine but obviously bada** like Katniss. 😉
