Happy Thanksgiving 2013 from House of Femme! Thanksgiving evokes feelings of gratitude and gives us a moment to reflect, to remind ourselves of what we are thankful for in our lives. We at House of Femme have a lot to be thankful for. What are you thankful for?
What I’m thankful for never seems to change, and I’m more than thankful for that. I have the most amazing family, and I couldn’t imagine my life without any of them. In addition to my beautiful family, I’m extremely thankful for being able to live the life I’ve made for myself. It’s full of growth and wonder while remaining as small and humble as possible. This year I hope everyone is as happy with their lives as I am with mine. Happy Thanksgiving. Peace and love.
Living in Kansas City instead of my small country town has brought a whole new meaning to the word thankful. This year has taught me to be thankful for what I do have instead of looking on what I may not have. I am thankful for my health, a roof over my head, a bed to keep me warm on these cold nights and the safety God grants me, my family and friends. I am also thankful for the charities and philanthropy groups that involve such kind people striving to help those in need day after day. America has been through a lot this year and the fact that we can come together to help families who are less fortune or who have been through tragedy means so much to me.
This Thanksgiving, I’m incredibly thankful for family; every aunt, uncle, cousin, parent, grandma, sister, brother, niece and nephew! I have the best family a girl could every ask for. The unconditional love and support my immediate and extended family brings is simply unimaginable sometimes. They have a very special place in my heart and I thank God for this constant blessing every day.
2013 has been an amazing year. I’m thankful for having a life I love and an amazing husband to share it with. I’m thankful that both my husband and myself have settled into new jobs this year that challenge and fulfill us both. We also made a new addition to our little family with a new puppy, Macie Mae. The feeling of being content and truly happy with our life is one of the biggest blessings.
I’m also thankful for the incredible group of people in our lives that are our closest friends. This year has really shown me that friends are family you choose and I couldn’t be happier with the people in my life. It’s so great to see how we’ve all grown together over the years and through the transitions of life.
Below is an image from my fall wedding! I’m so incredibly thankful I was able to have the wedding of my dreams with all my friends & family’s help. Also, very thankful to being this new chapter and the new additions I have added to my family. My heart got a little bigger on October 19th.

This Thanksgiving I am thankful to finally be working in my field of interest–ART!!!–with not just one, but two fabulous jobs! I am also beyond thankful for my family and friends who have supported me in my arduous job search in the past year, I would not be where I am today without your consistent love and encouragement. And last, but certainly not least, I’m thankful to have my cat living with me–he is my constant snuggle partner and delightful ball of furry love to come home to each day!
This Thanksgiving I am thankful for the humor in my job. As a Social Worker, I work with young adults living with HIV. My clients and I work together to help them live healthy and successful lives while managing their medical care. It’s hard work so my co-workers and I do our best to find the joy. We call it ” Condom Humor”.
This year went by so fast! I am constantly reminded how thankful I am to have great health, home, family, friends, and for a career I love. I am all kinds of full of thanks for the love and support that is around me daily. I have the best friends, family and life a gal could ask for. And, last but not least, I am thankful for the women that are a part of House of Femme. Each one of the women is smart, strong, passionate and confident in who they are. I am thankful to know them and to be able to call them friends.
I am thankful for the family that I was lucky enough to be born into and the family that I have earned along the way. Relationships take a lot of work, they take prioritizing others and sometimes difficult conversations. They are also about being uncomfortably vulnerable at times. In the words of Dr. Brene Brown, the amazing researcher/story-teller, “There’s nothing more daring than showing up, putting ourselves out there and letting ourselves be seen.” If you have not seen her TedX presentations, please take a moment to check her out.
I am thankful for feeling fulfilled in life. I am so blessed to have a job that I am ecstatic about waking up to, feel passionate about and have great coworkers to compliment. Outside of work, I’m so lucky to be part of some amazing organizations that bring so much value to my life. These groups expose me to some wonderful peers and mentors in Kansas City that are helping me develop myself personally and professionally to reach a more “ballah” life status But when it really comes down to it, the relationships in my life are what fulfill me most — I am filled with such love from my friends and family and heck, not, gonna lie, it’s pretty damn awesome to be in love, as well. Gobble, gobble! Happy Thanksgiving!
First, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I can’t believe it’s already Thanksgiving again; the past year has been full of changes and new experiences. That’s gotta be a good thing though! I am thankful for the opportunity to become a part of House of Femme with all of you wonderful ladies, to have a part-time job, to go to school (Don’t make me graduate?!) and to volunteer at MOCSA. Besides all that good stuff, I am happy and lucky to have friends that I feel like I’ve known my whole life and who make my stomach hurt from laughing too hard. While I’m at it, I’m also thankful to have a supportive and hilarious family that remind me to show gratitude for the many things we have, even though they’re sometimes taken for granted.
