As you may have noticed, we took a summer break of sorts. Work, travel, friends and family have kept us away for a bit from House of Femme, but that’s ok ‘cuz everyone needs some time off now and then. That being said, we’re back and ready to share what we did this summer with you.
I have had the most amazing summer!! For most of my summer, I have been planning a small event in October for about 300 people. It has been a crazy, hectic, and a fabulous time, but I will only list a few things. Ok here goes:
- I had 2 bridal showers, my little sister, Lisa lived with me over the summer
- Had a crazy fun wig bachelorette party
- Lost 10 lbs
- Went blind and got glasses
- Ran my first 5k and dirty girl run!
Woohoo happysummer! Xoxo
This summer I went to LA with my sister for my birthday, hosted my first Dinner Club in my newly decorated dining room, grew my biggest garden yet, and slalom skied for the first time. What a summer!
This summer was a blast! I got to catch some great live (and mostly outdoor) shows, like Matt and Kim. Running has always been a struggle for me since I was little. I was always that kid that had to re-run the mile in elementary / middle school because I couldn’t finish it in the period. That being said, I tackled this challenge this summer and ran my first and second 5K. I finished in 33 minutes and 32 minutes, respectively and my next goal is a 10K! I also had one of the best Saturday evenings of my life throwing a Pedal Hopper Bar Crawl birthday party for my boyfriend. A pedal hopper is basically a giant bar with several sets of pedals that you and your friends use to power the vehicle and go from bar to bar. See the site here. We got all decked out in glow sticks and had the best time with such a great group of people. Despite being a busy bee this summer, I still got the chance to relax in the sun and enjoy a few drinks poolside. Ahh, summer, I will miss you.
This summer flew by so fast that I’m having trouble even remember what I did! Jake and I must have went to almost 10 Royals baseball games. Can’t beat the summer heat, tailgating and boys in baseball pants. 😉
This summer was amazing for me because my life finally started to calm down! Two years of weddings can really wear ya out! So, this year I made sure to relax with family and friends. I spent a lot of time by water (gotta work on that tan, ya know) and going to concerts, went to a lot of baseball games with my husband–including sitting in the elusive dugout suite…the best way to watch a game! My little brother got to come home for an entire week on leave from the Marine Corps and by August my best friend welcomed the most adorable baby boy into the world! Shout out to Kamden Michael! Summer 2013 was good to me. 🙂
To name a few….this summer I moved in with not only a man, but the real apple of my eye, Romeo the PitBull. Did some remodeling to our new place, started a garden, and spent the last weeks of summer in Boston and Cape Cod with my handsome man. Needless to say, it was a successful summer.
Besides getting a lot of quality time in with amazing friends and family, this summer was a summer of firsts! I had my first (ahem, legal) drink. Turned 21 at Kelly’s, where they wouldn’t let me in at 11:55 p.m., but who’s bitter? Also in celebration, I knocked something off my bucket list, skydiving. And of course, I started working with Andrea and House of Femme, pretty awesome summer, if you ask me.
My summer fly right on by! I spent my time eating lots of (super delicious) food, hanging out with my beau, family & friends. I had a few exciting opportunities to speak with local groups that are near and dear to me like KC Women in Tech, UMKC and GoBlog Social. On the weekends, I practiced yoga, caught some salsa dancing classes, saw Quixotic perform (best performance group ever!), visited my family and lovely lady pals in St.Louis and scored my first pair of inline skates.
