As we dig up our last few carrots and onions and pick our final tomatoes I feel a slight hint of sadness. No more duck egg omelets made with our fresh garden veggies. No more running out to the garden to grab a sprig of rosemary and a few leaves of swiss chard. For all of you gardeners out there, you know how satisfying it is to have fresh organic produce at the edge of your yard. So as we “put our gardens to bed” for the year, I always like to remember to reflect on how lucky I am. I remember to be thankful for choosing to learn to grow my own food. There’s nothing more fulfilling than teaching yourself the most practical skill a person can have. After all, a girl’s gotta eat right?
