Every season, most of us become excited looking at new fashion trends and new ideas especially for spring moving from oversized dark sweaters to light and airy sundresses. One of the most debilitating feeling is when you’re broke and all you want is to feel pretty in some new threads, so I have come up with a solution. Gather all the items you do not want any more or have not worn more than once in the past year and sell or trade your old items for new ones at a consignment shop. I have done this so many years I have a routine. Most consignment shops only take clothes that are in season, so sweaters in winter, short in summer, so I go through my closet months the next season to see if there is anything I could sell or trade. I usually put my clothes into a paper bag will all the clothes folded nicely. I found if you present the clothes well the greater chance you can sell it. I always go to LuLus on Johnson Drive in Mission, KS. They are very nice and they give great trade value. I got some sunglasses, three shirts, a bracelet, and a ring. Then I go to ATC (Arizona Trading Company) in Westport, Kansas City, MO. They are very trendy and a little overpriced, but give good trades as well. The ladies there know my names since I trade there so much. I got a shirt and necklace. I love these new pieces, I can wear them with anything.
Clothes to Sell
After my adventure of thrifting and hoping I could make some money, I stroll out of the stores with miraculous items that I love so much without putting a huge dent in the wallet. I usually have some clothes left over that was not sold nor traded so to continue the good spirits, I donate the clothes to the local thrift stores of Kansas City. Not only do you feel good in your new clothes, but donating can make you feel good about yourself as a person….totally worth it.
